Local Area Information

Eating Out

LLain Delyn is well served for places to eat.

Why not try either the famous Ship Inn, the Tavern or The Boat House restaurant is approximately 25 minute walk.

A further 10 minutes along the coastal path takes you to Benllech beach which is ideal for children, with cafés and take away food and ice cream on the sea front.

If you want a takeaway Benllech has Indian and Chinese food as well as a Fish and Chip shop.

Beaches

As well as the famous Red Wharf Bay, other popular beaches are just short drive away.

Anglesey is full of different beaches to try and Llain Delyn is ideally positioned to allow easy access to the whole island.

One of our favourites is the beautiful sandy beach of Traeth Lligwy or maybe try the small pebble beach and coastal village of Moelfre with its working lifeboat centre, both a 10 minutes drive away.

Further afield Newborough beach and forest. Have a day on the beach and explore the island (don’t get cut off by the tide). Or why not walk or cycle through the forest in search of the red squirrels.

If surfing is more your thing then try Rhosneigr where the surf always seems to be up. A calmer part of the island is at Trearddur bay where a walk along the prom is the place to relax.

Mountains

LLain Delyn is also just 30 minute drive to the majestic mountains of the Snowdonia national Park with lots of walks and activities such as treetop zipwires or for the brave the longest zip across the quarry

There is even a narrow gauge steam railway.

Both the traditional seaside town of Llandudno with the great Orme to climb or for the less energetic travel up on the train or cable car and the Colwyn bay mountain zoo are both about 40 minutes away.

Castles, National Parks, and other places to go

Nearer to Llain Delyn there are many castles (Beaumaris being the nearest), Plas Newydd National Trust house and gardens, and even a sea zoo and butterfly palace with lots more.

Anglesey is becoming a popular place to come to view wild life from Birds to Dolphins

Bird Watching

Anglesey Puffin Island

Puffins return to land for a very short nesting season April-June, there now a few breeding pairs on the island. Grey Seals and Common Seals also share the waters around Anglesey.

South Stack cliffs nature reserve RSPB

A great day out to Holy Island (Holyhead) to see the guillemots, razorbills and puffins nesting and breeding in spring on the iconic cliffs.

The watch tower offers a fantastic viewpoint and is full of information even if the birds have ‘flown the nest’. Please check on opening times.

Sea wildlife

The sea around Anglesey is full of wildlife with dolphin pods, and seals becoming more common each year.

There are boat trips to take you to spot the wildlife available. This is from Beaumaris pier (seasonal) which is only 20 minutes away by car.

Walking

The coastal path of Anglesey runs a 5 minutes walk from the property and is just one of the many footpaths on the island. If you feel like going further afield for something more strenuous then Snowdonia is only 30 minutes away.

What ever you enjoy Llain Delyn is an ideal place to base yourself with everything available either locally or within a short drive.

Busses

There is a bus stop right outside the gate at Llain Delyn. There are regular services to places on the island and a service to Bangor.

The closest train station is at Bangor.
